In China's purification and solid control equipment manufacturing, domestic facilities have assimilated and adopted foreign technology for equipment, but reliability and performance remain significantly lacking. Domestic centrifuges were introduced for oil well drilling due to their ability to lower mud density and viscosity simultaneously in heavy drilling fluids while also saving a significant amount of mud chemicals. Later on, the centrifuge's performance in solid phase separation proved to be outstanding.
Enhanced solid control equipment:
In heavy mud, when the viscosity is very high and the density is moderate or slightly low, this indicates that the content of ultrafine solids and colloidal solids in the mud is too high.
In order to recover the underflow from the medium-speed centrifuge, which is mostly barite and iron ore fines, it is conducive to maintaining density. Conversely, the overflow contains a significant portion of ultra-fine solids and colloidal solids that must be treated;
The medium-speed overflow was used as the feed for the high-speed centrifuge, with its separation point set at 2-5 microns. Consequently, after operating at high speed, the centrifuge can discharge its colloidal solids and ultra-fine solids to the outside of the tank, while returning the light overflow containing water and drugs back to the sedimentation tank for dilution with the mixture;
The mud system enables the mud density to increase slightly while viscosity is significantly reduced, thereby allowing the centrifuge to serve as a density controller and viscosity reducer. This not only saves a substantial amount on mud costs but also ensures the control over the performance of the heavy mud system.
